scarey 4th

Never before have so many of our fundamental freedoms hung by such a thin thread as they do now.

The people alive today—you and I, our neighbors and co-workers, our families and friends—must now decide on many fronts whether or not our great experiment in freedom continues or crumbles.

Awake and be vigilant! Insist that we preserve our cherished freedoms!

Sadly. on the fourth of July I can only celebrate the America that was, not the one that exists today, and which seems to be so resolutely marching towards some kind of despotic police state. A part of the sort of a global tyranny described so well by George Orwell in his novel “1984.” The general form still prevails in many respects, but the essence is gone. Individual choices continue to dwindle and we can no longer say with honesty, “one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.” Neither is America any longer, in my opinion, “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” I do celebrate the ideals upon which the country was founded originally, of equality under the law, individual liberty, respect for honest contracts, respect for financial and personal privacy, respect for personal property, non interventionism, and personal sovereignty. Perhaps one day there will be a nation that will support those ideals again.
