a puzzlement

Comments to yesterday’s post by Matt and Frank underscore the insanity of our policies concerning drugs, which are clearly being driven by Big Pharma. But drug policies and their consequences are only a small part of what makes our society so crazy and unjust.

Some days, I don’t even try to make sense of the world. It is so illogical.

I think I’m pretty far right on the issue of recreational drug use, but I’m certainly not blind to the insanity of our nation’s drug policies (legal or other). Whether the aforementioned California (and likely other states) foster children, Washington’s juvenile inmates (see Frank’s comments to yesterday’s post), the rush to drug half of our nation’s elementary school kids because they are a bit hyper-active, or the fact that I can’t turn on the TV without being bombarded by pharmaceutical adds, it is all part of the brain-washing of Americans to seek happiness (control) in a pill. This effort is obviously fully endorsed by the FDA which approves these drugs for such use, and yet it is in no small amount of conflict with the federal government’s stated war on “illegal” drugs.
