Island in the Pacific

In Rogers’ and Hammersteins’ musical South Pacific, Bali Ha’i is a volcanic island within sight of the island on which most of the action takes place. The Navy troops think of Bali Ha’i as an exotic paradise, but it is off-limits except to officers. The matriarch of Bali Ha’i, Bloody Mary, does a lot of business with the troops, and she meets the young lieutenant right after he arrives. She sings her mysterious song “Bali Ha’i” to him to entice him into visiting her island so he will meet, and fall in love with, her young daughter.

The 125- page state police report is out on the middle school shooting in Roswell and it seems to point to bullying as a motive.
A lot of witnesses mention bullying as a possible motive for 12-year-old Mason Campbell but state police still haven’t said it was a motive.
News 13 already knew from Campbell’s Facebok page that bullying was an issue with him.
And every time a witness, including his mother, mentions who the target may have been it’s blacked out in the report.
State police say they believe the shooting was random.
Of course Campbell walked in to the Berrendo Middle school gym in January with the shotgun hidden in a duffle bag.
He told family and friends it was stuffed with gym clothes.
The report states he warned a few friends they should probably leave the gym and then marched toward the bleachers and fired off a shot wounding two students.
After he was subdued on the floor witnesses say he cried that he was sorry and that he didn’t mean to hurt anybody.
Campbell has a hearing set for next week where his attorney says he’ll take full responsibility for his actions.
5 takeaways from the final Mason Campbell report

is attorney, who is also his uncle, explained how Campbell is coping. He has been placed in a juvenile detention facility.

“He is just a child, he is doing the best he can. He is trying to get better day by day and that’s the task he has in front of him. He has a hard road in front of him without his family being so young, but he’s doing the best he can,” attorney Jason Bowles said.

A maximum sentence for Campbell would keep him at a juvenile facility until he’s 21.

Its a shame , he asked severel times for help and no one believe him.. he was helpless! Hope he gets a fair sentence and must not spend until his 21 behind bars.

Thank you, Simon, for sharing this news about this young boy. I tried to find informations about how its case evolves but, Thuesday, this informations were not available. The latest news were about lawsuits that the parents of one of the injured children brought against him because of medical expenses to which they had to face.
According to what I have read on his case, he cannot be prosecuted as an adult because he was less than 14 at the time of the facts. As such, he cannot be incarcerated beyond his 21st birthday if he is found guilty. I sincerely hope that he will obtain the less time possible to serve if he had to be retained in any form of juvenile facility and that he will obtain the help and care he needs.
What worries me is, if his act was a reaction against bullying and the lack of responses from adults to its calls for help (and the question of bullying is on the table since the begining of this case), he will have to face to difficult days, in the coming years. In its juvenile détention center or in a juvenile facility, he will certainly be confronted to the same nightmare: bullies. A nightmare who’s not near to find an end, for him.

Yes its terrible. Hope the stuff in the facilitie keeps an eye on him so much its possible.

That he can not be tried as an adult is good, but in the news i looks like that the reporter and prosecutor are disappointed about this.

Lets’ fear that he need the maximum sentence.

Hope it ends not so terrible like in the joseph hall case !
