three short bits

La-la-la-la-la  We heard from Blade this morning. There was bounce in his voice. He had finally received his promised radio and earphones; now he can block out the whole awful noisy environment he is in. Music is good medicine.

Yum  The Grub Shack finally reopened today, and I went down there for lunch. Jerry was absolutely glowing with happiness that they were back to work. The closure by Big Brother has lasted just days shy of a full year. You have no idea of the hardships this has imposed on Jerry and Eva, two good souls who have never harmed anyone in their lives. But no one was speaking of that today.

They had lots of customers their first new day. Like me, everyone is happy our social space is social again. I had a Jerry Burger smothered with cheese and Italian tomato sauce (you have to eat it with a knife and fork) and made-to-order fresh-fried potato chips. It was great. All is right again in this distant corner of the world.

Late  I had intended to publish this post before midnight, but I fell asleep in the chair around seven and slept almost straight through until six. Most of the night was taken up by one of those cherished dreams in which I am briefly reunited with Holly, and then separated. I spent the whole night looking for her, knowing that she was just outside my field of vision or just around the next corner. One of these days my dreams will be fulfilled, but not now.

Now this post is later still because Paco just called to tell me that Nick, one of our good friends from twenty years ago, died today of a drug overdose. Nick is the second of our original gang of Wandervögel to have died. I will always remember that kid literally flying through the air on his bike or snowboard. Gravity has now lost its grip on him forever.

thtas good someone provided a radio of his own, let him keep it now that block out any noises and the jerks inmates and guards who criticises him and so on. MEANS HE WONT HEAR THEM AND THOSE PEOPLE WILL BE TALKING TO THEMSELVES. Some one needs to hear that old saying from bambi, movies thumpers mom and dad says IF U CAN’T SAY SOMETHING NICE, DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL.. So lets not not trash talk Blade. I sent him a birthday card even thou it’s not birthday yet. It is captain america with a music tone to it, from walmart. I called facility and a man who answered phone says he can receive cards and cards that does a saying and music tone, as long as its got no vulgar and inappropiate. Captain America is on his way to see Blade, says blades a good guy and captain america is on his side. Then a early Easter card. Has a chocolate bunny saying about chocolate bunnies is not for back pockets, poor bunny melting messy. Also wrote a song lyrics for him song is called Beautiful. BY MERCY ME. TALKS ON HOW HE IS WORTH SOMETHING SPECIAL.. HOW GOd created him and hes not worthless, and God loves him. Inspiration encoraging uplifting spirits song. More than just a song its the truth and heart to heart that there is people out there who cares for BLADE.

As I learn more about these kids cases it has become painfully aware to me that Indiana and Florida and Pennsylvania are not on the same page as much of the rest of the country, The Chardin HS shooter was told in court yesterday he will probably be moved to adult court after psychiatric evaluations are done on him. In Ohio we do this for a 17 year old, but Indiana does not even do this for a 12 year old before sending him to adult court. There was another killing in the Cleveland area this past week where a 13 year old shot and killed his 10 year old brother, but not to worry in Ohio unlike neighboring Indiana we do not move 12 or 13 year olds to adult court. Had this happened in Indiana or Florida I`m sure some hard line prosecutor would want this moved to adult court.

The only way this will be contained is with Federal legislation that sets a national age limit on juveniles being prosecuted as adults. As I have mentioned before in Ohio it is 14 and this is only done in extreme acts of violence and where the juvenile has a history and after undergoing court mandated psychiatric evaluation. There also needs to be a Federal law that juveniles even charged as adults cannot be held in an adult facility, a county jail or a prison. This is the only way to stop this.
